Terms & conditions

  • All quotes provided by Daniel Charles Studio are valid for 30 days from the date of issue. Quotes are based on the specific scope, materials, and dimensions outlined at the time of enquiry. Any changes requested after a quote is issued may result in a revised quote.

  • A non-refundable deposit of 50% of the total invoice value is required to confirm your order and secure your place in the production schedule. Work will not commence until the deposit has been received and cleared.

Please review all quote details carefully before paying your deposit, as this document will serve as the final reference for your project.

  • The remaining balance is due prior to delivery or installation. Payment can be made by EFT (bank transfer). Please reference your invoice number when making payment.

  • Once a deposit has been paid and production has commenced, changes to the order may not be possible, or may incur additional charges. Please contact us as soon as possible if you wish to discuss any amendments.

Cancellations after deposit payment will forfeit the deposit in full, as materials and production time will have been allocated to your order.

  • As all pieces are custom-made to your specification, Daniel Charles Studio does not offer refunds or exchanges for change of mind or incorrect selection. Please choose carefully and do not hesitate to ask questions before confirming your order.

2. Materials & Natural Variation

  • Our furniture is crafted using natural materials, including solid timber, veneer, stone, and metal. Natural materials will exhibit variation in colour, grain, texture, and character. These characteristics are inherent to the material and are not considered defects.

Timber is a living natural product that continues to respond to its environment long after it has been crafted into furniture. Fluctuations in temperature and humidity — particularly in heated or air-conditioned environments — can cause timber to expand, contract, and move over time. This movement may result in:

    •       Minor checking or small surface splits, particularly along the grain or at the ends of boards

    •       Slight warping, cupping, or bowing in solid timber panels or slabs

    •       Hairline cracking in joints or finish as the timber acclimatises to its environment

These are natural characteristics of solid timber furniture and are not considered defects. We take care in the selection, drying, and preparation of our timber to minimise movement, and we design our pieces with timber’s natural behaviour in mind. However, we cannot guarantee that movement will not occur.

To help preserve your piece, we recommend keeping furniture away from direct sunlight, heating vents, and air conditioning units, and maintaining a reasonably stable indoor environment. Periodic oiling or conditioning will also assist in managing moisture levels in the timber.

Samples and swatches are indicative only. Minor variation between samples and the finished piece is to be expected and does not constitute grounds for rejection or refund.

  • Finishes are applied by hand and may vary slightly in sheen, tone, or texture between pieces or batches. We will always endeavour to match previously supplied finishes where possible, but an exact match cannot be guaranteed, particularly for future additions or repairs.

3. Production & Lead Times

  • Lead times are estimates only and are provided in good faith at the time of quoting. Standard lead times for custom furniture and joinery are typically 8–12 weeks, depending on the complexity of the project and current workshop schedule.

Lead times may be affected by material availability, supplier delays, or circumstances beyond our control. We will notify you promptly of any significant changes to your estimated completion date.

Daniel Charles Studio is not liable for any loss or damage resulting from delays to production or delivery.

  • For installation projects, it is the client’s responsibility to ensure that the site is ready and accessible at the agreed installation date. This includes completed plastering, painting, flooring, and any required structural work. Any delays caused by an unready site may incur additional charges for re-scheduling.

4. Delivery & Installation

  • Delivery is available throughout Melbourne and surrounding areas. Interstate delivery can be arranged via our trusted transport partners at an additional cost.

Delivery fees are quoted separately and are not included in the furniture price unless otherwise specified in writing.

  • We will contact you in advance to arrange a suitable delivery or installation window. If you require delivery at a specific time or date outside of our standard schedule, additional charges may apply.

It is the client’s responsibility to ensure someone is available to receive the delivery or grant access for installation at the agreed time. Failed deliveries due to non-attendance may incur a re-delivery fee.

  • Please inspect all items carefully at the time of delivery or collection. Any damage, defect, or discrepancy must be reported to us in writing within 48 hours of receipt. Claims made after this period may not be accepted.

5. Warranty

  • Daniel Charles Studio provides a 2-year warranty on all custom furniture and joinery for residential use, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal conditions of use.

  • For commercial applications, a 1-year warranty applies, covering defects in materials and workmanship under normal conditions of use.

  • •       Structural defects in joinery and construction

    •       Defects in finish or materials arising from our workmanship

  • The warranty does not cover:

    •       Damage caused by misuse, neglect, or accident

    •       Normal wear and tear, including scratches, marks, and fading

    •       Damage caused by exposure to excessive moisture, heat, sunlight, or humidity

    •       Damage resulting from the use of inappropriate cleaning products or methods

    •       Defects in third-party hardware, components, or materials (though we will assist in pursuing manufacturer warranties where applicable)

    •       Any modification, repair, or alteration carried out by a third party

    •       Naturally occurring characteristics of timber and other natural materials, including movement, checking, or colour change

  • To make a warranty claim, please contact us at info@danielcharlesstudio.com with a description of the issue and supporting photographs. We will assess the claim and advise on the appropriate remedy, which may include repair, replacement, or a partial refund at our discretion.
