Short answer is no we don't have a showroom. But we do have this website and keep our Instagram up to date with all of our latest work. We are always making so there will always be something for you to look at in the workshop if you would like to meet us in person!
Installation can be quoted depending on the complexity of the install. We are happy to work in consultation with your preferred builder to ensure the right mounting points are provided by us.
Yes, we'll go through this when we are working out and finalising your design.
Timber is one of natures most beautiful products and is a naturally living material that always moves, depending on its surrounding environment.
The timber we source is obtained from third party suppliers, they advise us that the timber is dried to 12%-16% or less, however we can't guarantee every piece has been checked by them. We take great care in our milling, joinery and finishing processes to reduce movement where possible.
We allow ourselves a 2mm tolerance for movement on every piece of furniture. This means that doors or drawers may move up to 2mm, particularly in the first month after delivery as the timber adapts to its new environment. This is not a defect, just part of the natural process timber undertakes and will continue to undertake for the life of your piece.
As the timber's moisture level changes, and with sudden environmental changes, such as your piece of furniture leaving our workshop and moving into your home, timber can encounter small splits and cracks. This is to be expected and is not a defect, but part of the natural adaptation process. Regular maintenance and care for your piece of furniture is essential to keep your furniture looking beautiful for many years to come. Our maintenance instructions using the Osmo Liquid Wax Spray can be found below.
In the first 28 days after the initial application of Osmo oil, it is advised to take extra special care of the surface whilst it cures, especially with surfaces that come into contact with liquid and food. Covering your surface when it is in use with a table cloth it recommended. It is essential to clean up and soak up any spills immediately with an old sheet or towel.
Contact with air is vital in the curing process so having good air flow and protecting your piece from direct sunlight and heating is very important.
Applying Osmo Liquid Wax Spray to your piece will ensure that the surface is kept water resistant and the timber is able to compensate to the environmental changes it is exposed to such as heating, air conditioning, humidity and direct sunlight.
Don't use ‘off the shelf’ detergents or spray cleaners on the surface as the majority of these products are too harsh. The only recommended product for cleaning an Osmo finished piece of furniture are the Osmo branded products. Daniel Charles Studio can not be held responsible for any damage to your piece of furniture if any product other than Osmo is used.
In the case of a scratch, applying a coat of the Osmo Liquid Wax will help in decreasing its appearance as well as preventing it getting worse. To do this:
1. Shake the can
2. Lightly spray the surface
3. Massage the spray into the timber with a rag
4. Make sure your finishing strokes are with the timbers grain for a seamless finish
Daniel Charles Studio are not responsible for any damage incurred due to normal wear and tear. This includes but is not limited to:
- Natural darkening of timber over time
- Dulling of the surface
- Scratches that occur through use
- Natural movement of timber caused by variation to the environmental conditions in which the piece is kept
Also excluded from Daniel Charles Studio responsibility:
- Accidental damage by customer
- Inadequate care and maintenance of the piece of furniture- not using Osmo products
- Any natural marks, blemishes or recycled characteristics of the timber including gum vein, nail holes, rust staining, colour variations, grain variations, and natural movement in the timber from climatic conditions
- Excessive weight being placed on drawer runners or cabinetry componenents
- Any damage incurred from third party delivery companies
